DOVID MAKHLIN

DOVID MAKHLIN (b. 1879)
            He came from Ukraine.  He lived for a time in Berlin, later in Switzerland, where he convalesced from tuberculosis and studied at the same time.  He worked for the foreign committee of the Bund, in the Bund archives, and for the Bundist student movement abroad.  He helped transport illegal literature to Russia.  He contributed to the Vilna daily Folkstsaytung (People’s newspaper) (1906-1907).  On the twentieth anniversary of the Bund, he published a historical work concerning the Bundist press.  In 1927 the Soviet government deported him to Alma Ata and later to Siberia.  His subsequent fate remains unknown.
